Dr. Jaclynn Hawkins and Dr. Jamie Mitchell have received loan repayment awards to assist their continued work in health disparities research. Specifically, Dr. Hawkins has received her award through the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestives and Kidney Disease and Dr. Mitchell has received her award through National Institute of Aging. Both Dr. Hawkins and Dr. Mitchell are dedicated to continue their work in bridging the gap within health disparities. Dr. Hawkins, Assistant Professor at University of Michigan School of Social Work has recently founded the Diabetes in Men’s Health Lab and Dr. Jamie Mitchell, Assistant Professor at University of Michigan School of Social Work, is the Co-Director and Co-Investigator of Michigan Center for Urban African American Aging Research. Both are actively working on projects in health disparities research. Dr. Mitchell is also the new principal investigator of a three year grant from the National Institute of Aging to address disparities in research participation among Black older adults.
