Congratulations to our TIDR colleagues Jamie Mitchell and Daniel Fischer on their recent promotions. Dr. Jamie Mitchell was promoted to Associate Professor with Tenure. In addition, Daniel Fischer was promoted to Clinical Associate Professor. Both Dr. Jamie Mitchell and Mr. Daniel Fischer have dedicated their careers to helping others through research, clinical work, and administrative roles within the social work field.
Dr. Jamie Mitchell is currently a Principal Investigator for Michigan Center for Urban African American Aging Research. Dr. Mitchell focuses on research of “mechanisms that (facilitate) patient-centered communication between older African A
merican men and their physicians during the course of cancer and chronic disease care.” In addition, Dr. Mitchell is also a Co-Director of Healthier Black Elders Center in Detroit.
Daniel Fischer has focused on clinical work, specifically with anxiety disorders. Mr. Fischer has taken on administrative roles within the Department of Psychiatry and School of Social Work. Most recently, Daniel Fischer is the Assistant Dean and Director of Field Instruction. In addition to his administrative roles, Daniel Fischer has been a Clinical Professor at both the Department of Psychiatry and School of Social Work. Daniel Fischer has also been a part of many research projects throughout his career.
